Days Black Star
This is Newport, a city built on the muddy banks of the river Usk in South Wales. As a photography Student of the University I would wander the streets, often late into the night. Driven by my own isolation, I sought relationships and often met people that lived on the margins of life. Sometimes I took drugs, sometimes I drank but I always walked, walked into the darkness. Eternally ending up at the great dark shadowed river, as if it was pulling me into its jet black sliding surface.
The title is borrowed from a poem by W.H Davies who was born in Newport in 1871.
