Fergus Thomas is a British artist who creates evocative works exploring humanity's relationship to the natural world. His practice spans photography, film, and sculpture, incorporating a diverse range of cultural, literary, and philosophical influences.
Rooted in the sacred, spiritual, and mythological traditions, Thomas’s work is characterised by its atmospheric and contemplative quality, often drawing upon organic forms and textures to explore the humble and primal aspects of life.
Born in the UK, Thomas earned a BA in Documentary Photography from the University of South Wales before completing an MA in Photography at the University of the West of England. He is currently an associate lecturer at the University of South Wales.
Thomas’s work has been exhibited across the UK and internationally, including at the Warsaw photo-days in Poland and the Ian Parry scholarship in London. He has been featured in various publications, including Granta magazine, and has received numerous grants and awards, including from the Arts Council Wales and the Welsh Government. Thomas's most recent exhibition, "The Faculty Divine ii," was held in March 2023.
